Failure Date: The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Maxima. While the vehicle was being serviced by an independent mechanic, the wiring underneath the driver's seat caught fire. The fire department was not contacted.
An auto technician extinguished the fire. There were no injuries. The independent mechanic stated that a wire burned through, which likely caused the fire. The contact was unsure of what repairs were needed.
The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was previously serviced per NHTSA campaign number: 05v512000 (seats). The contact spoke with tim dahle Nissan (4528 state st, murray, ut 84107) who stated that they could not assist and advised the contact to speak with the manufacturer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that they were not liable since the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 175,000.See.
Failure Date: Electric seat will not move forward it goes up and down reclines and goes up. But I cannot get it to move forward. Since I never change my driving position and have no need to move it. It should still work. My car is in prime condition everything on the car is in working and excellent condition. Dealer said I have to get a new 'seat and track; I don't understand why then never removed the two bolts and looked to see if the wire may have come off the unit?
00 dollars to repair sound like a rip off. Your thoughts. Failure Date: My wife's 2010 Maxima has issues with the airbag sensor in the passenger seat and it doesn't operate correctly.
It is the same issue with the 2013 Nissan recalls but that recall doesn't go back far enough. I've contacted Nissan headquarters and they just blew me off.

The contact person's name is cody with Nissan consumer affairs and he has yet to contact me by my cell. They keep calling me on my home number and we aren't home most of the time. Orchestra baobab made in dakar rarest 2. I've recently called them again this past Friday and the representative said someone will contact me in a few hours. Today is Wednesday September 14, 2016 and still no phone call. I was advised a few weeks ago to take the car to the dealer and get a quote by Nissan hq and call them back with the information. I've done that and now they won't return my calls. Cody's contact number is (615)-725-7675 and MD case # 23718765.
Nissan keeps closing my case number and won't address this issue. I just don't want my family put at risk if the passenger side airbag doesn't deploy because of a faulty sensor in the seat. I want Nissan to take care of this problem before something horrible happens. The contact person at the dealership for Nissan is james smith and that number is (512)353-5116. He can verify how much it would cost by the quote he gave us. It's approximately $1,100 to fix. Thanks for your assistance in this matter NHTSA.See.
Failure Date: It started with what the technicians mentioned as a 'misfire,' and I kept smelling something burning through the air vents inside the car. After spending $1200.
00 for a complete tune-up with Nissan parts, fixing a motor mount, and a cheap hose that crumbled as they were repairing the car in February 2014 I had to spend another $500. 00 in November to replace the same Nissan spark plugs that burned out after no where near their usage date and replace back coils. I took the car to Nissan to look at the service engine light and ask why one headlight is foggy and the other one is not in which they had no answer so I had to pay $75. 00 for them to clean the foggy light and now it's foggy again so they say $1200 for a new one which is ridiculous to me. The paint is fading and the chrome is completely gone on the roof and this is 2008 model which makes no sense to me. After spending this in 2014, in February 2015 I had to pay Nissan $2000. 00 to replace the catalyst converter, fix an oil leak, tpm sensor for the second time, and for a brake flush and rear brakes.
I took the car in to Nissan today and tire pressure light is on spent two hours them for them to tell me it was a small leak in the tire that they patched and something keeping the rim from sealing around the tire completely. Today I get home and the driver seat would not move backwards or forward after my wife leave to go to work the seat starts to work as I am on the highway driving in heavy traffic and it moves forward all the way to the steering wheel causing me to press down further on the gas which was very dangerous and I was able to struggle to pull over in side median in order to maneuver out of the seat and cut the car off. After standing on side the highway, pressing the seat device it finally moved back enough for me to continue driving to work.See. Failure Date: The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Maxima. While driving at an unknown speed, the gauges started flickering erratically and smoke started to emit under the front driver seat. The contact was able to merge to the side of the road and safely exit the vehicle.
2004 Nissan Maxima Power Seat Problems
The fire department was contacted to extinguish the fire and the vehicle was towed to the dealer. The technician stated that the power lumbar support switched failed and that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 05v512000 (seats). The manufacturer was contacted and refused to provide any assistance.
The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 240,000. Failure Date: The driver seat has a slight rock when taking off and breaking. I bought the car used back in October 2014 from a Honda dealer.
I noticed the rocking but thought it was just a loose nut or something so I didn't look into it right away. When I took it in to the Nissan dealer they said the frame was broken. I was told it was no longer under warranty. I contacted Nissan USA and was told they had no known issue with the seat and that it was out of warranty and they would not fix it. My main concern is that the seat my come completely apart or something while I'm breaking and cause me to have an accident.
I not sure why if they had the same issue back in 2009 and found some type of fix why want they fix it now before someone gets hurt. Failure Date: Warranty just expired after 5 years. Few months later, the telescoping steering wheel started making grinding noises and will not telescope back and forth unless I manually push or pull hard.
Got quoted $850 for a repair, but I refused to pay that much to get it fixed as it is not my fault. I see many 2009 Nissans having this problem and I am extremely disappointed in the manufacturer to not recall this!
This might be my last Nissan as I already had 3 Nissan batteries, my alternator replaced and my driver's seat frame replaced! I can't wait until my car loan is paid off! Failure Date: I was driving to work July 3rd, 2013 around 7:00am. I smelled smoke in my car so I pulled over, opened my hood and I didn't see anything. I got back in my car and continued to drive to work. I smelled smoke again, only this time to realize that my bottom was getting hot. I looked down to the right to see if my seat warmer was on and it wasn't.
Then my seat began to move forward & backward by itself about 3 times. I turned back around to the front and there was a cloud of smoke in my face & flames at my feet. I quickly grabbed my phone and my ipad, released my seat belt, pulled up my emergency brake, opened the door and jumped out of my car falling onto the ground, jump up, and called 911.
While waiting on the fire department & the police I stood there crying hysterically, terrified and watched my car go up in flames. Failure Date: Driver seat rocks slightly on take off acceleration or slowing of vehicle. Has existed since car was new and recurs frequently. Nissan has issued service bulletin for 2009-2010 service year for problem (ntb09-092b) but has not extended it to subsequent years although user complaints are rampant.
I am concerned that seat could come loose in collision. Dealer claims they cannot replicate the issue to avoid warranty repair. Nissan fails to acknowledge larger quality and potential safety issue on multiple years of Maxima model.
